CONSERVATION AREAS IN CRISIS? FORTY YEARS ON...
A COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE INSTITUTE OF HISTORIC BUILDING CONSERVATION AND THE CIVIC TRUST FOR WALES National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth, 22 June 2007 The Institute of Historic Building Conservation and the Civic Trust for Wales are presenting a series of conferences on issues affecting the historic environment in Wales. This event focused on conservation areas, and was especially timely given the debate on the heritage protection white paper, which has been criticised heavily for its failure to recognise the significance and potential of this designation. We are in the process of publishing versions of the presentations here, and a full review of the conference will appear in About Wales this autumn. We are indebted to all the speakers for the exceptional quality of their papers. Bear with us during the process of getting material online!
