RSAW Housing design awards 2004

 

New seaside housing in conservation area at Cold Knap, BarryThe Royal Society of Architects in Wales has announced the winners of the 2004 Welsh Housing Design Awards.

There were three categories of Awards: for individual homes; for schemes up to twenty units, and for schemes over twenty units. The winners in each category were:

Individual homes/extensions: Sker House restoration, Porthcawl (architect Michael Davies, Davies Sutton) "The house", Penarth (architect Graham Brooks)

Under twenty units: Drybridge Gardens sheltered housing, Monmouth (Ainsley Gommon Architects)

Over twenty units: Plas y Môr, Burry Port (PCKO for Gwalia Housing Group; Pebble Beach, The Knap, Barry (Capita Symonds for Barratts); Sovereign Quay, Cardiff (Architects: Goddard Manton Partnership for Barratt South Wales)

Two lifetime achievement awards were made: to Bill Davies, one of the Civic Trust's board members (more), and to the Museum of Welsh Life.

The Civic Trust for Wales is represented on the Awards Steering Group.
